PRO TIPS:
Book early if possible -- Resort Prices rise throughout the year, but if you book early, you can get some amazing deals. I am not part of this elite “early booker” crowd but I commend you if you are.
Use the humidifier! I had no idea what these machines were for until I came back from four days in Park City with a raw throat that turned into a two week infection over Christmas and New Years.
Double down on handwarmers - Two in each glove. (I’m from a cold-hand family)
THIN wool socks. Thick socks cause sweating (aka cold water) and uncomfortable bunching in your boots. Smart Wool socks are my fave though look for anything with merino wool.
Ski early in the morning so you can recuperate and enjoy the hot tubs all evening long.
Sunscreen! Higher altitude means you’re closer to the sun and will crisp faster.
Stay hydrated. Super important to prevent muscle fatigue and dehydration.
Bring protein snacks. Make use of all those ski jacket pockets and tuck away Protein Bars for quick snacks throughout your ski day. It will also save you a lot of money because ski lodge prices are not wallet friendly (~$7 for a gatorade, ~$12 burger)
It’s really cold. Which makes a great reason to invest in quality ski clothing/gear. Our daytime temps dropped below zero degrees fahrenheit and my buff (face mask cover) was literally frozen all day from the moisture in my breath. It was crazy. Keep in mind, I’m from Texas, was born on the equator, and and wear sweaters in Hawaii. Regardless, if you are a human being, don’t skimp on quality ski jacket/pants/gloves/socks for Park City.
