Hiking Diamond Head | Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii

If you're on Oahu, you can't miss this iconic hike.

Diamond Head 101:

Distance: 1.6 miles round trip

Time: 1.5-2 hours

Does it really take that long? This trail is CROWDED, so hiking in single file takes a while. Also, enjoy the view while you're up there. It's worth it.

Cost: $1 cash

Hawaiian Name: Le'ahi (means brow of the fish... see the video for an excellent visual overlay)

Business Hours: 6am-4:30pm (park closes at 6pm)

Best time to go: Before 8am. After 2:30pm. It's packed with people at almost all times so adjust your "alone in the wilderness is my favorite place" expectations.

Overall: I thought this would be hard. It's not. I'm pretty active so it's quite literally a walk in the park if you're used to doing challenging activities.

The Hardest Part: There are a lot of stairs in a row. Knee issues aside, you'll be fine.

Daily Dose of Inspiration: To quote the 87 year old lady at the top, "I saw all these young'ins running up here and I wasn't sure if I could. But here I am."
